That's all people like Morrigan have...just plenty of free time, which they can use for all sorts of inventive things! Studying magic is one thing; studying multiple schools of magic without the tutelage of any sort of guild magic is way beyond a normal person's capacity! Good thing Morrigan had a good teacher of sorts, though that story arc begins to get a little funky at some point. Morrigan is a very 'ethical' character, though not very morale I suppose. She prefers outcomes that benefit the most amount of people, and doesn't care much for helping the poor and silly things like that! If you've beaten Dragon Age, you know what Morrigan was after the entire time...and you probably didn't take much convincing!
