Swarovski is the luxury brand name (like BMW or Mercedes) for the range of precision-cut lead crystal glass crystals produced by subsidiary companies owned by Swarovski AG of Feldmeilen Switzerland. The company runs Swarovski Kristallwelten (Crystal Worlds) a crystal-themed indoor theme park at its original Wattens site in Austria. In 1892 Daniel Swarovski, a Bohemian born native, created the Swarovski crystal when he invented an automatic cutting machine in 1892. In 1895 the Swarovski company was then founded when he established his crystal cutting factory where he took advantage of the local hydroelectricity for the energy-intensive grinding processes he invented.
